Gas Explosion and Fires Rock Central Dallas

 

DALLAS - Several explosions and a large fire rocked an industrial company near downtown Dallas Wednesday morning.

The business, Southwest Industrial Gases, Inc., is a welding supply company. It went up in flames at about 9:30 a.m. In a news conference, Dallas Fire officials said the cause of the fire was a malfunction. Lt. Joel Lavender said that several acetylene tanks on a truck were being filled. A connector broke, which caused several of the cylindrical tanks to overheat.
